Some businesses begin with an idea. Others begin with a life experience so profound it changes the course of everything that follows.
For Jenna Clarke, The Surrogacy Co. was born from exactly that.
Before becoming the co-founder of a surrogacy agency, she had already experienced surrogacy from nearly every perspective imaginable. She served as a surrogate mother on two separate journeys, spent seven years consulting families navigating surrogacy, and supported countless new parents as both a Birth & Postpartum Doula and Newborn Care Specialist.
As you can imagine, it didn't take long for people to notice:
"After dozens of clients, friends, and colleagues kept saying, 'You should start a surrogacy agency,' we finally decided to take the step to launch."
"Clients in California trusted me to facilitate their surrogacy journey, and that was the catalyst to give me the courage to really make it official and establish The Surrogacy Co."

Together, she and her husband, Brad, built the agency on something more substantial than business experience alone. Both hold Master of Public Health degrees, bringing years of healthcare knowledge into every relationship they build with intended parents and surrogate mothers.
That combination of lived experience and professional expertise has become the foundation of The Surrogacy Co.'s approach: one centered on education, advocacy, and compassionate guidance through one of life's most emotional journeys.
Like many entrepreneurs, launching the business meant stepping into unfamiliar territory. Through a recommendation from a friend, she connected with the Women's Business Center of Kentucky while developing the company's business plan.
"I started working with a coach to utilize the business planning tool as we were developing The Surrogacy Co.'s business plan. It was incredibly useful to have insights and accountability during the development phase."
She credits the coaching process with helping create a roadmap instead of simply taking the leap.

"The Women's Business Center has allowed me to strategically plan for our first couple of years in this new business launch."
For most businesses, success is measured in sales, square footage, or growth charts.
For The Surrogacy Co., success sounds a little different.
Sometimes, it's the first heartbeat.
Sometimes, it's helping a family become whole.
And sometimes, it's knowing that years of experience, compassion, and careful planning have helped make one extraordinary moment possible.
We're honored to support founders like Jenna, who combine expertise with heart to solve deeply personal challenges. Through coaching, planning resources, and a statewide network of women entrepreneurs, we're proud to help businesses like The Surrogacy Co. grow with confidence.
