Women's Business Center of Kentucky
The Women's Business Center of Kentucky, under the direction of Phyllis Alcorn, is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration and hosted by Community Ventures Corporation. Phyllis came to Community Ventures in January 2009 after an 18 year career in the newspaper industry where she managed and maintained the Lexington Herald-Leader's telephone and voice mail systems. During her tenure at the Herald-Leader, Phyllis earned her MBA degree with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business. Phyllis has always had an interest in the “business” of business. Helping women learn about business is what excites her most about being a part of the Women’s Business Center of KY and Community Ventures. In her role as Director of the Women’s Business Center of KY, she truly enjoys helping women start, grow, and develop their businesses.
In her spare time, Phyllis enjoys photography and interior design. She is a self-published author of a romantic suspense novel titled, “Black Ice Undercover.” In addition, she plays the flute and the piano, loves to travel and is a resident of Lexington.
