Do you want to start a business? Do you want to learn how to research and write a business plan? Our expert business advisors will teach you how to use the business plan to start or grow your business and/or how to secure financing to start or expand your business.

This 4-week course teaches the foundation of what is needed to start and/or operate a successful business.  Topics include: permits and licenses, registering your business with the state, marketing, human resources management, financial reporting and business operations. Class enrollment is limited to the first 15 registrants who pre-pay the required registration fee.

COST:                     $35 for the entire course – ADVANCED REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT REQUIRED

Week 1

Learn what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and how Community Ventures and the Women’s Business Center can help achieve your goals.  Review the major components of a business plan. Learn about the importance of being able to identify and quantify your Target Market. Learn about the different business structures to decide how you should structure your business.

Week 2

Marketing Plan:  Learn how to develop a strategic plan to attract and maintain a customer base.  Learn about Startup and Monthly costs and how to plan for this expenses.


Week 3

Human Resource Planning: Learn how to recruit, manage, and pay employees.  Learn about the different types of Insurance to determine the coverage your business needs. Operational Plan: Learn about the importance of the Location you choose for your business, and how to develop a plan to open and operate your business.


Week 4

Learn the language of business financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow and source and use statements.
